Luigi Bertazzoni (Varese 07/11/62) and Paolo Giacomo Vasino (Novara 07/05/63), have studied at Politecnico di Milano, graduating respectively in 1986 and 1987.
After some experiences in Berlin, London and Zurich, where they worked on several projects and realizations (museums, hotels, commercial complexes, public spaces), they founded in the year 1991 "alter studio architetti associati". The practice have received several prizes and awards by participating in architectural competitions. In 1991 they won the first prize in the international competition Europan 2, with a project for the city of Charleroi, Belgium.
Since 1995, Altersaa, has developed various project contracts, from masterplan to interior design, regarding commercial, industrial, hospital, residential, landscape and environment themes.
Among the works designed since 2000: Eni offices in San Donato Milanese (winner of the international competition and one of the first buildings in Italy to incorporate passive solar systems), public square in Metanopoli, Emergency Department, Siena Hospital, residential settlement Jopal, Colombia, iERP buildings in Lombardy, interior design for SUN Microsystems, headquarters Montana SpA, ENI officies.
Luigi Bertazzoni, since 2004, is professor at the Politecnico of Milan, Faculty of Architecture. From 2004 to 2015 he has led course of Environmental Design and has participated with Paolo Vasino in sustainability research projects. The main objectives and content of their design are the positive interaction between architecture environment and art including in this the most contemporary concepts of sustainability. In 2012 Alter Studio won the Globe Energy Award Colombia.
In 2015 it ranked top 10 in the eVolo Skyscraper International Competition 2015, with more than 2000 participants.
In addition to publications on Italian and international journals, Luigi Bertazzoni is the author of several books including "Feng Shui per progettisti" published by Walters & Kluwer, "Navigare sulla carta bianca" published by lettera 22, "Modelli e Prospettive" published by Hoepli .
